If you have a compaction problem or poor subsoil this needs addressing seperately, or in the same operation.
This is where a lot of the other low cost methods of rape establishment fall down - autocasting, direct drilling, or spinning the Rape on with a fertilizer spreader are low input low output systems and whilst they may give you reasonable establishment sometimes they do not necessarily provide good conditions for growth.
